His involvement was steady and would grow throughout middle and high school, where he joined several vocal and jazz ensembles and founded a few a cappella groups of various styles among friends. In college, Robert directed The Jabberwocks of Brown University as a sophomore. He led the group in representing North America at the Hong Kong International A Cappella Festival and received multiple Contemporary A Cappella Recording Award nominations for his arrangements. He also participated in the school’s jazz program, singing in jazz combos and serving as the principal vocalist for the university’s Jazz Band.
Beyond Ro Sham Bo, Robert sang in Internote, a contemporary a cappella group from the Techapella scene. After a few years of working in business and operations, he is a voice teacher and works full-time in a cappella.
