Rick moved from San Diego to the Bay Area and graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, with a Cognitive Neuroscience degree. During that time, Rick managed two years in the University Chorus, one year in the Chamber Chorus, two years with the UC Men's Octet, and a single show with the SF Opera (North America's premiere of St. Francois d'Assise).

Post-graduation, Rick has sung a cappella with The Richter Scales, barbershop with Bari and the Three Bears, classical with the SF Pocket Opera (Macbeth), and sexy with the Rocky Horror Show (Pinole Playhouse). He continues to be thrilled to sing jazzily with Ro Sham Bo.
